What we do
We build relationships alongside making music — While young people share that story
Why? Because the worlds most evidenced understanding of human motivation tells us it's a great way to encourage these three basic psychological needs that are essential for people to flourish

Feeling seen
Musicians support each participant to create whatever music they want to make, how they want to make it, what is captured about their experience and who they want to share it with.
People often feel music is complicated to make. We enable any participant, whatever experience they have, to experience feelings of success creating their music, easily and quickly.
Each person shares a digital story of weekly highlights, inviting positive feedback from the people who matter to them. everyone is part of the process, using the story to reflect connection. This helps the participant feel genuinely ‘seen’.
Our digital stories: A key element of our work
Our use of digital stories improve outcomes for participants by enabling us to mirror and embed those basic psychological needs above. It also means that a selct group around each participant of family and key workers can be involved in every session, witnessing and contributing to its impact. The more engagement we see in each participants digital story from family and those around them, the better the well-being outcomes.
It also means everyone creates their own case study, with the participants voice held genuinely in the centre, and we can employ cutting edge technology to understand our impact on well-being - from conversations, not feedback forms!
"Noise Solution has been used successfully for our most vulnerable children and young people. It has literally been a life saver in more than one case and the only stability factor in many more."

How do we know SDT works?
Those three feelings above are basic psychological needs, identified in Self Determination Theory. SDT gives us an evidenced way to transform how individuals see themselves, and the world. As a theory it is co-founded by the worlds most cited psychologist Dr Ryan. SDT has 1.8 million citations in the academic literatures. Hear more detail in this video.
Our programmes
We offer a spectrum of support, designed to respond to the needs of the person referred. Individuals can join us at any point in this spectrum, and move across levels.
Our most flexible response. Working at the highest level of need, our musical mentors provide intensive one to one engagement in person or online, using music to develop a strong relationship and build trust.
Our hi intensity phase provides a coordinated engagement phase for those young people who need a fast and regular response. Additionally, we have dedicated case management from our team, to liaise with professionals and families around the participant ensuring that communication and focus on positive outcomes is maintained.
A Hi Level response includes:
